About Assia Cross
The Khabtora Cross is located in a beautiful area of the town of Assia and was recently built
in 2024 through the efforts of the town's young men and women volunteers and local donors. The
idea originated with the Youth of the Virgin Mary Brotherhood in Assia, in cooperation with the
Al-Was Committee and the Marjliya Endowment Committee, which donated the land for the cross.
The project is characterized by a spirit of community cooperation, with the townspeople
contributing out of their love for their faith and their town. Each person contributed a portion
of their land, which helped to widen the road leading to the cross and seamlessly connect it to
the surrounding areas.
The cross was celebrated for the first time on September 14, 2024, and the annual celebration
continued on September 14, 2025, making the cross a focal point for religious and social
gatherings in the town. Despite its recent construction, the cross symbolizes unity,
cooperation, and love for the town and its faith, and it attracts visitors and worshippers
thanks to its beautiful location and the efforts of the local community in building it.
